Mikhail Youzhny
Mikhail Mikhaïlovitch Youzhny or Youžny (in Russian МихаилМихайловичЮжный) is a Russian player of Tennis born the June 25th 1982 with Moscow. Droitier, it measures 1m82 for 72 kg.
He started to play tennis at the 6 years age. Passed professional in 1999, it gained 3 titles over the world circuit. In Grand Slam it reached the semi-finals of US the open 2006, after having beaten in quarter the world number two, Rafael Nadal.
It becomes famous in December 2002 by gaining the Coupe Davis with Russia. Finally against France in Bercy (on covered beaten ground), it replaces Yevgeny Kafelnikov in the fifth decisive match against Paul-Henri Mathieu. Led 2 sets to 0, it passes very close to the defeat before reversing the vapor and imposing themselves in 5 sets to offer a first Coupe Davis to its country.
