Mikhaïl Gourevitch

Mikhaïl Iossifovitch Gourevitch (in Russian МихаилИосифовичГуревич) born on December 31st, 1892 (of the Calendrier Julien January 12th 1893 of the Gregorian Calendrier is the ), with Rubanchtchina, close to Koursk, dead on November 25th, 1976 in Moscow, was an aeronautical engineer Soviet, which remains famous for its co-operation with Artem Mikoyan, within the research department Mikoyan-Gourevitch.

It is resulting from a family of Jewish origin wine technicians, it brilliantly finishes its studies with the College of Akhtyrka, in 1910, with a money medal and enters then, at the department of the university of Kharkov. He is then engaged in a company of state of energy, but in 1929 leaves it, to settle in Moscow and to work in the aircraft industry. In its return, it takes part in manufacture under license of the Douglas DC-3, under the designation of Lisunov Li-2 , and with the introduction of the novel methods of aeronautical production. In 1937, within the research department of Polikarpov, OKB -1, it directs a team of design. Finally in December 1939, it joined the very new office of design of the factory n°1, OKO , directed by Mikoyan, of which it becomes one of the assistant with Anatoly Grigorevitch Brunov. Gourevitch provides the mathematical bases which made the success of the research department (OKB) Mikoyan-Gourevitch. These calculations related in particular to high-speeds, the good performances in rise and a high altitude ceiling. Between 1949 and 1961, it works especially on the creation of missiles and flying bombs, while directing division OKB-155-1 of the research department. In 1964, one decrees to him a title of doctorate in sciences, and it takes its retirement, on July 1st. In reward of its work, it was decorated with the Ordre of Lénine, with four recoveries and was named Héros of socialist work in 1957. It accepted the price of the State in 1941 (for its work concerning the Mig-1) and in 1947,1948,1949,1952 and 1953.
