Mike Mignola is a contemporary American draftsman of Comic S born the September 16th 1962, publishing in particular at Dark Horse.

Biography

Beginning at Marvel Comics on series such as Rocket Racoon , Hulk or Marvel Brass band , Mignola is initially influenced by Mike Ploog. It develops a style more contrasted, near to clearly-obscure and cinema German expressionnist, with the wire of works: Cosmic Odyssey (written by Jim Starlin), Gotham by Gaslight (Batman victorien writes by Brian Augustyn), Jungle Saga (written by Walter Simonson) or adaptation data base of the saga of Fafhrd & Grey Mouser (written by Howard Chaykin).

It is from now on known for its series Hellboy . Its graphic universe borrows many elements from Poe, Lovecraft,…. Its graphic style is a line clearly rather elegant with many lights-obcurs and contrasts.

He worked also much in the medium of the cinema and the cartoon, delivering searchs for characters and decorations for Batman Animated or Atlantis. In the same way, it took part closely in the adaptation of Hellboy to the cinema.
