Mike Grier

Mike Grier (born the September 5th 1975 with Strait with the Michigan) is a player of professional Hockey.

Biography

Grier is one of the players the most known Afro-Americans of the league. Shortly after its birth, its family moved in Holliston, Massachusetts or the Mike young person passed his childhood. His/her father is not other than Bobby Grier, former trainer of Running back in American football and currently deputy manager of the supervisors of the Houston Texans (not to be confused with famous Bobby Grier, which played with the team of the Pittsburgh Panthers in 1956 and became the first Afro-Américain football player to play a match of Bowl College).

Career

Junior beginnings

He spent his first years with Saint Sebastian' S School, then for the university of Boston, where he appeared at the time of the last season in 1994-1995, and was elected in the team of stars. During its passage to Boston, the rights of Grier were sold with the Oilers d' Edmonton with Curtis Joseph in exchange of two choices of first round of fishing out.

Career in LNH

Grier was chosen by the Blues of Saint-Louis to the 219e place, at the time of the ninth turn of the Repêchage of entry in the LNH 1993. As soon as its departure of the College, Grier was a place among the manpower of Oilers like right winger which can play on the checking line, marking with passage 32 points with a ratio + honest of +7. It will spend 6 years with the organization of Oilers, cash two seasons or it registered 22 goals. October 2nd, 2002 it was exchanged with the Capitals of Washington for obviously economic reasons and to provide with the places for younger players, in exchange of a pair of choice of draft.

Although the following season (2004-2005) was cancelled because of the lockout, Grier signed in 2005 a one year old contract with the Sabers as a free agent for 1.4 million dollars. Grier took part in 81 meetings of this season 2005-2006 and registered 7 goals and 16 master keys for 23 points. He also marked 3 goals for a total of 5 points during the matches of post season.

During the summer following the season 2005-2006, Grier became free agent and signed a contract of 5.33 million dollars with San Jose Sharks. It expressed its excitation to play with a so beautiful organization, and it places it as first choice among the eight teams which tried to stick her services. This contract has a clause of no sale.
