Mike Allred

Mike Allred is a draftsman and scenario writer of Comic S American.

Biography

Its first work was for small editors such as Slave Labor Graphics and Dark Horse Comics, mainly for its character Madman. This series obtained a Harvey Award.

It started to draw the attention of more many people with Red Rocket 7 , a series mixing Science-fiction and rock'n'roll' N roll as thanks to are work for the series X-Force of Peter Milligan (series known under the name of X-Statix )

It adapted recently the Livre of Mormon (“The Golden Punts”) and currently works on X-Statix Presents: Deadgirl . His wife, Laura Allred, often works for him as a Coloriste. One can only notice in the style of Allred his influences of the Pop art as well as the illustrations of the years 50 and 60

Allred was rewarded by many prices. It was named like Meilleur New Talent in Harvey Award of 1991; like Better Draftsman in “Squiddy Awards” in 1994,1995,1996,1997,1998,2001, and 2003; like Meilleur Draftsman also in Comics' Buyer' S Guides Award of 2002 and 2003; like better Lettreur in “Squiddy Awards” of 1998; like better Inking in “Squiddy Awards” of 2000 and in Comics' Buyer' S Guides of 2002; like Better Artist of Cover in “Squiddy Awards” of 1997.

Appearances

One saw Allred playing his own Multiple part in Méprise ; the scene of opening occurs in a convention from comics, and one sees it signing copies of Madman.

Others

Some did not see in the cartoon Freakazoid! that a plagiarism of Madman. As long as the series was diffused, Allred was not expressed on the subject. However in 2003, he spoke about it on the forum about his official site (see low).

Since 1998, Robert Rodriguez acquired the rights of the Madman film. However, Allred and Rodriguez, although having tried many times a script starts, arrived at nothing. Allred announced in a convention which took place in 2006 with San Francisco that the film “Madman” was in pre production and that he hoped that turning would start with the end of the year.
