Michael Holbrook Penniman' (born the August 18th 1983 with Beirut, Lebanon) known as Mika , is a Chanteur of pop English of libano-English nationality living with London. He usually speaks French.

Biography

Born with Beirut the August 18th 1983 from a Lebanese mother and an American father, Mika is very young when its family leaves the Lebanon for Paris, where it goes to the nursery school. He lives in the French capital during approximately 8 years.

When Mika reaches the eight years age, his/her father is retained with the Embassy of the the United States to the Kuwait for safety reasons, for seven months, with the whole beginning of the Guerre of the Gulf. When he moves in London after eight years spent in France, he passes from a small school to an enormous institution. At this point in time Mika is locked up in the silence, which it breaks while playing of the Piano. He is then discovered a passion for the opera and a vocal capacity except standards.

Mika studies thereafter with the French Lycée Charles de Gaulle, with the Westminster School. At 19 years it off obtains a place with the London School Economics which it chooses never not to attend. He then manages to off integrate the Royal College Music, which he leaves to launch out in a career solo.

Its first album left on February 5th 2007, ran out with 750.000 specimens in France and 2.000.000 in the world.

Musical career

Mika exerts its trade in very different musical fields: traditional concerts with the Royal Opera House of London, the writing of a music for the flights of British Airways or the composition of the music of a publicity for Chewing-gum S. As of the 11 years age, it interprets an opera of Richard Strauss.

Its first appearance with the radio is on Radio operator BBC 1 in September 2006, and on television in the emission The Friday Night Project (Chanel 4) on January 20th, 2007.

In January 2007, it arrives at the head of a survey on the Web site of the BBC Sound off 2007 ( the sound of 2007 ).

Its first individual is Relax, Take It Easy (2006) on which one finds the melody of (I Just) Died in Your Arms of Cutting Crew, as well as the introduction and the melody of the famous Spacer of Sheila & B.Devotion. This individual reaches the first place of the remote loadings in France in February 2007.

Individual the Grace Kelly leaves in numerical remote loading on January 8th, 2007 and it reaches the first place of the sales the individual ones in England on January 21st, 2007. One week before its exit in the vats, it becomes the second title to reach the head of the Hit-parade only thanks to the remote loading.

February 5th 2007, the exit of the first album of Mika Life in Cartoon Motion , produced and mixed by Greg Wells with Los Angeles, causes comparisons with artists such as Freddie Mercury, Robbie Williams, George Michael, Scissor Sisters, Rufus Wainwright and Elton John.

The members of its group are Martin Waugh (guitar, song), Michael Choi (low, song), Cherisse Osei (battery) and Luke Juby (keyboard).

It started on October 10th, 2007 in Lille its first European round.

Problem of patronym

The name of Mika scene, in Belgium, is already used by the singer of Reggae Sophie Michalakoudis since 1984. This name is in addition deposited with the Sabam, the Belgian society managing the royalties, since 1986. This name has also been deposited by this same singer with the office of the marks and patents of $the Hague for several years. Quickly shown to want to draw a financial profit from the celebrity from her British homonym, Sophie Michalakoudis forever claimed damage and allowances.
