Mihail Sadoveanu is a writer and Rumanian politician born with Paşcani, a small town in the north of the Moldavie, the November 5th 1880 and deceased with Bucharest the October 19th 1961.

After studies with Paşcani, Fălticeni and Iaşi, it leaves Moldavie in 1904 and starts studies of right to Bucharest. This same year it begins a prolific literary career publishing four books (of which Povestiri , price of the Rumanian Academy).

The writer does not finish his right, preferring a literary career to him. During its life, it publishes more than one hundred books while collaborating in literary journals (in particular Insemnari literare with his/her friend the poet George Toparceanu). Its most remarkable works are in particular Hanul Ancutei , Fratii Jderi , Creanga of aur , Baltagul and Viata him Ştefan concealment Mare . The majority of its writings are inspired by the history, the folklore and the culture Moldavian.

During the communist period of dictatorship, Sadoveanu did not have the courage of other Rumanian intellectuals, such Gh. I. Bratianu, which refused to collaborate with the new mode. For example, its novel Mitrea Cocor is a work of propaganda in favor of the collectivization of agriculture.

Its collaboration with the Communist regime is distinguished by the Prix Lénine which it receives little time before its death.
