Mihail Kogălniceanu (September 16th 1817, Iasi - July 1st 1891, Paris) was a politician of Romania, historian, he became the first Prime Minister of Romania the October 11th 1863, after the union of the principalities of Moldavie and Valachie.

He successfully proposes a law to secularize the properties of the Monastère S (adopted the December 25th 1863). In spite of this, its efforts on the land reform show a vote of Censure, and he resigns in 1865.
