Miguel Indurain Larraya (born with Villava in Spain the July 16th 1964) Miguelón is a Spanish racing cyclist, who gained 5 times the Tour de France.

Its career

It joined the team “Reynolds” and gained the championship amateur of Spain what opened to him the door with a professional path in 1984. With the team “Reynolds” become the “Banesto”, of (1990 with 1996), it took part in the races most important the such Tour de France, the Tour of Italy, the Championnat of the world. It entered the history of cycling by gaining the Tour de France five times consecutively of 1991 to 1995 (Bernard Hinault, Jacques Anquetil and Eddy Merckx had gained each one 5 times, but not consecutively), while carrying out two doubled Turn-Giro in 1992 and 1993.

Miguel Indurain was a wheeler of exception, large specialist in the against-the-watch (world champion then Olympic champion of against-the-watch in 1995 and 1996). It improved the world records of the hour in 1994 on the cycle-racing track of Bordeaux.

Miguel Indurain left the competition in January 1997, following her bad performances in the Tour de France 1996 and of her abandonment in the Tour of Spain 1996. Between these two failures he will have become the first Olympic champion all the same on road of against the watch of the history, nevertheless the relations become rather tended with its employer and his replacement programmed by Abraham Olano will have been right of its motivation and its desire for continuing.

Anecdotes

Its first name, Miguel, must decide miguel like ford ridon and not migouel like too often heard. In Spanish, U is useful, just like in French, to harden G in front of a weak vowel (E, I). Its family name is written without accent on the " a" , contrary to a widespread error.

His/her Prudencio brother was also his fellow-member in the Banesto team.

With its more high level, it had a rather exceptional cardiac rhythm of 28 pulsations per minute.
