Miglos

Miglos is a common French, located in the department of the Ariège and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

Its inhabitants is called the “ Miglosois ”.

Geography

The commune of Miglos gathers the villages of Arquizat, Norgeat, Baychon, Norrat and Axiat.

Places and monuments

  • Vestiges of a castle " cathare " built on a rock piton to 750 m of altitude. Currently in the course of restoration, built towards the beginning of XIIIe century, it was largely damaged at the time of the Révolution. In 1830, Jean-Louis Hycinthe de Vendômois, heir to the place, saw his residence plundered at the time of the " War of the Young ladies " (1829-1832) opposing the peasants of Ariège to Charles X.
