Comment
Straczynski, although atheistic, used many elements of Christianity in Midnight Nation :- Lazare was one of the first to be passed between the worlds, the Christ having forgotten it on Earth after having it ressuscity,
- the speeches of Lucifer on the imperfection of the world created by God, and his solutions,
- the final Crucifixion which embroiders around the concept of Sacrifice.
Midnight Nation is also an attempt at awakening of the defects of the company states-unienne of the end of the Années 1990: in the accounts of those which were found in this parallel universe, the weight of a social norm is expressed which imposes values like the selfishness, the return to oneself, the imitation of the others when they choose the solutions of facility.
The resolution of the intrigue is in the optimistic frame of mind which reigns in works of Straczynski since Babylon 5 . The solution comes, often in this author, by the Altruisme, the gift of oneself and the forgiveness.
