The Midlothian ( Meadhan Lodainn in Scottish) is one of 32 administrative divisions of the Scotland. Midlothian is frontier with the Scottish Borders, the East Lothian and the town of Edinburgh.

It was before a county between the West Lothian in the west, the Lanarkshire and the Peebleshire in the south, the Berwickshire and the East Lothian in the East. It included/understood the town of Edinburgh then and was sometimes called Edinburghshire .

District

There exists a district of Midlothian to the Scottish Parlement like with the House of Commons.

Of a surface of 354 km ², it is the 21e administrative division by its size and 28e by its population (79 610 inhabitants). The political party in place is the Workers party, with at its head David Hamiton.
