Middelfart
Middelfart is a commune of the Region Denmark of the south resulting from the communal reform of 2007.
Middelfart is the result of the gathering of the 3 communes of:
- Ejby
- Middelfart
- Nørre Aaby

The town of Middelfart
The town of Middelfart is a town of 13.465 inhabitants (2006) which is located on the island of Fyn at the Denmark. It is placed between the new bridge of the small belt and the old bridge. The name " Mæthælfar" is employed for the first time in 1200 in the book of the land registers of the king Valdemar " Jordebog ", which is the first of the kind known in Denmark. The shortened form " Melfar" was employed the centuries according to and is employed still nowadays in certain initials of companies, institutions and certain local demonstrations. " Melfar-Posten" is the name of a local newspaper. The name Melfar signifie" water of-medium where us voyageons" by allusion to the traffic enters Jutland and Fyn.Its inhabitant lived especially of the whaling of the Middle Ages until the end from the 1800 century, or more exactly of fishing to the Marsouin (Phocaena phocaena). Its grease was used for domestic and urban lighting. This industry disappeared obviously little by little with the appearance of electricity. The fishermen were organized in Confrérie (in Danish Loge) already since 1593. The Cabin was dissolved by royal resolution of May 4th 1899.
