Microware Systems Corporation

Microware Systems Corporation is the company having produced the Operating system OS-9.

Microware existed of 1977 until September 2001, moment when the company was repurchased by RadiSys Corporation and became a division of this company. Microware initially produced a version of BASIC and a Système real-time for the Micro-processeur Motorola 6800. It accepted order on behalf of Motorola of the development of BASIC09 for their new microprocessor: the 6809. The writing of finished BASIC09, the need for a subjacent operating system appeared and the company created the first version of OS-9.

This one was declined in several versions for various architectures.

Making time, Microware concentrated its activity on the industrial customers and neglected the community of people carrying the applications UNIX under OS-9.
