The micocouliers (kind Celtis ) are a kind from approximately 60 to 70 species of deciduous trees widespread in hot moderate areas of the northern hemisphere, in southernmost Europe, Asia Eastern and southernmost, and in America.

The micocoulier was used very a long time for the manufacture of the forks out of wooden, in particular in Gard (Safe).

In the past classified in the family of the Ulmaceae (or in the Celtidaceae ), the phylogenetic analysis showed that they would belong to the family of the Cannabaceae .
