Michigan City is a city of the Comté of LaPorte in the Indiana with the the United States. It belongs to the Chicago metropolitan area as defined by the government of the United States. It is located at approximately 80 km in the south-east of Chicago. Its population was of 32.900 inhabitants in 2000.

Michigan City attracts a great number of tourists, coming from Chicago and Indiana, at the time of the summer months, because of its proximity of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and of its beaches located on banks of the Lake Michigan.
