Michelangelo Antonioni is a Scénariste and Réalisateur of Cinéma Italy N born with Ferrare (Emilie-Romagna) on September 29th, 1912 and deceased with Rome on July 30th, 2007.

Biography

It begins in the Cinéma, at thirty years, in full period neorealist, like Scénariste for Roberto Rossellini and Federico Fellini, and works as assistant of Marcel Carné for the Visitors of the evening .

Its first Feature-length films (of Chronic of a love in 1950 until the Cry in 1958) remain confidential while bringing only one notoriety to him “Italy”.

Antonioni will become known only after the exit of Avventura in 1960, preceded with Cannes, first shutter of a tetralogy which was going to impose an innovative vision of the cinematographic art, wanted “equal to the Littérature”. The following Opus, the Eclipse , the Night and the red Desert make it recognize internationally. Monica Vitti will be the egery of these four films and will be his/her partner besides during some time.

Blow-Up , turned with London in 1966, Palm of gold to the Cannes festival 1967, opens to him the doors of Hollywood, where it carries out Zabriskie Point in 1970. Not meeting hoped success, it leaves in China to carry out Chung Kuo, China in 1972, before returning to the the United States with Profession: to defer in 1975.

Returning then in Italy, it finds Monica Vitti for the Mystery of Oberwald in 1980 then carries out Identification of a woman in 1982 on the turning of which it meets Enrica Fico which will become his wife.

In 1985, a cerebral accident causes to him a partial Paralysie and quasi an impossibility of Parler. It will not cease therefore its activity and it is helped of his/her friend realizer Wim Wenders that it will carry out Across the clouds in 1995. Its last film Eros date of 2004 (Antonioni being then 92 years old!) and Co-was realized with Wong Kar-Wai and Steven Soderbergh.

He dies on July 30th, 2007, at the 94 years age, the same day as Ingmar Bergman.
