Michel de Smet (1912 - 2006) is a Belgian Poète of origin whose discrete work takes part, after the surrealist adventure, with the developments, rather related to the expression of natural realities, the French poetry of second half of the XXe century.

Biography

Michel de Smet was born with Ghent (Belgium) in 1912 but passes his early childhood to England and is established in Paris in 1938. Having carried out studies of economy and political economy, it gives French lessons to foreign diplomats.

Its literary beginnings are encouraged by Paul Éluard, max Jacob, Jean Paulhan, Marcel Arland, Marcel Béalu, Jean Lescure. It thus publishes in the reviews “Fountain”, “Junctions”, " Messages " , “the Arc”, “Letters”, “the Eternal review”, “Realities secrêtes”, “Poetry present”.

Michel de Smet dies on May 6th, 2006.
