Michel d' Ornano , born with Paris on July 12th 1924, died with Saint-Cloud (Hauts-de-Seine) on March 8th 1991, is man Politique French.
It engages in policy in 1962 while reaching the town hall of Deauville, vacation resort of his parents. It becomes then Député (1967) then member (1976) and chair (1979) General advice of the Apple-brandy, and finally president of the District council of Basse-Normandie (1983) from which it was transitorily the first into 1974 before being appointed minister. The area then owes him the service road Paris-Caen-Cherbourg by Turbotrain, the establishment of the Particle accelerator GANIL in Caen and the construction of the Autoroute of Normandy, as well as the Festival of the American cinema of Deauville.
Called the “Duke of Normandy”, it creates around him a clan which makes of him the strong man of the Basse-Normandie during 30 years. It installs his wife, Anne d' Ornano, with the town hall of Deauville in 1977, and, struck by the office plurality of mandate, proposes in 1986 the presidency of area to Rene Garrec. With its death in 1991, reversed by a car while crossing the roadway with Garches (Hauts-de-Seine), Nicole Ameline, her substitute, becomes appointed, his wife takes again the presidency of the general advice of the Apple-brandy.
On the national plan, he is a faithful friend of Valery Giscard d'Estaing. He founds with this last the independent Républicains (IH), then adheres to the UDF. That will be worth to him to be a minister during all the presidency of this one, with the wallets successively of Industry and research, the Cultural Affairs, and the Environment and the framework of life.
For the municipal elections of 1977, Michel d' Ornano is the candidate designated by the independent Republicans to try to carry the Mairie of Paris. Stopping its choice on the XVIIe district initially, it is presented finally in XVIIIe where it is beaten by the socialist list led by Lionel Jospin, Daniel Vaillant and Bertrand Delanoë. The election is marked by the duel with Jacques Chirac, another right-wing candidate, which seeks (and will succeed) to reach Giscard from the point of view of the presidential election of 1981.
He was also vice-president of the Socpresse.
Minister of Industry from June 14th, 1974 to March 29th, 1977
