Michel VII Doukas
Michel Doukas , Parapinace , died in 1090, Co-emperor with his brothers Andronic and Constantin as from 1067 (joined by Romain Diogène in 1068) and Byzantine emperor of 1071 with 1078, wire of Constantin {{X}} and of Eudoxie.
With died of his/her father, his mother remarie with Romain Diogène which is associated with the throne. After the defeat of Romain IV with Mantzikert the August 26th 1071 and its captivity by Alp Arslan, he remains the only Master of the Empire.
It continues the policy of his father, but is unable to reject the forces which invade the Byzantine territories and to control the internal rebellions. Its reign is marked by caused disorders, since outside, by the Church of Rome, the Petchenègues and the Magyars.
Its financial policy is disastrous: which gallops inflation led to the fall of the currency, so much so that Michel Parapinace is called ( less one quarter ).
The Norman ones which invades Italy of the South arrive close to Constantinople. He requests the assistance of the Seldjoukides of Anatolia.
He is reversed by Nicéphore Botaniatès in 1078 and finds himself locked up in the monastery of Studium. His wife Marie d' Alanie is forced to marry Nicéphore. It becomes later, under the reign of Alexis Ier, bishop until his death.
Of Marie d' Alanie, it has a son Constantin Doukas, who is a time associated with the throne.
Two of his/her brothers are also associated with the throne:
- Andronic Doukas (1057 † a. 1081), of 1067 with 1078
- Constantin Doukas (1060 † 1081), of 1071 with 1078
