Michel Polnareff is an album of Michel Polnareff left in 1974.

At first sight, the poster is enticing with Polnareff type-setter and Jean-Claude Vannier arranger. Three years before, this last made d'" History of Melody Nelson" the disc worship which it is today more than ever by equipping génialement the concept-album with Gainsbourg. The problem, it is that mayonnaise does not take on this disc and for several reasons:

  • At that time, Polnareff is at the beginning of its financial martyrdom, its businessman left with the case, the singer is ruined and all its energy is wasted in this history, which will in particular prevent it from managing like it of with the practice the recording of the disc.
  • Undoubtedly in bond with the problems previously mentioned, Polnareff does not sign any text, and the lyric writer Pierre Grosz or Jean-Loup Dabadie (in small form on the sirupeux " I coils you because") are not with the height.
  • Jean-Claude Vannier carries out rather unspecified orchestrations, and the mixing is straightforwardly poor, undoubtedly because of absence of main concern.

Thus, in spite of (like always) of beautiful melodies (" The Man who cried of the Tears of Verre"), the album remains a failure, in spite of two or three pieces very successful like " The Prince in Otage" or instrumental the " Polnarêve".
