Michel Marius , known as Michel Pasha , born the July 16th 1819 with Sanary-on-Sea and dead the January 6th 1907 with Tamaris (castle of the Coat), with the Seyne-sur-Mer, is a man business man French Années 1860 - 1900.
It considerably modified the exploitation of the Seaside of the communes around Toulon, and of the Seyne-sur-Mer in particular, in arranging the Rade: construction of a cornice and luxurious villas of the Eastern type. Thereafter, it seizes the occasion to complete work in Ottoman Empire. Benefitting at the same time from the competitions with the Russian Empire from then and from the real needs of installation, Michel Pasha becomes the August 1855 Managing director of the headlights of the Ottoman Empire (it is named by the sultan Abdoul Medjid). He then makes build, by the means of a French company, a hundred and eleven headlights on the coasts of the Black Sea and takes a percentage on the passage of the ships.
Its passion and its ambition bring back it in 1879 near the Sultan of which it obtains the concession of the quays of the town of Istanbul as well as the honorary title of Pasha of the Ottoman Empire .
Consequently, the honors accumulate. It is made Chevalier of the Légion of honor by the République in 1880 and Count de Pierredon by the Pope in 1882.
Although native of Sanary, it is for Tamaris with the Seyne-sur-Mer (VAr) that it tests a love at first sight. Besides the new count de Pierredon will be made there build a fairy-like castle in the middle of the 60 hectares of ground which it acquires along the littoral of Tamaris. Of this still virgin extent, Michel Pasha will make a tourist resort, a stage obliged for the high society of the time.
In a more anecdotic way, he was administrator of the goods of Victor Hugo of 1851 to 1870, during his exile.
