Michel Murr
Michel Murr (Arab: ميشالالمرّ) is a Engineer, business man and Politician Lebanon board. He is elected in 1968 Greek-orthodoxe appointed of the Metn. There fails the elections of 1972 but remains active in the political life at the time of the civil war. He is Minister for the Habitat and Minister for the Stations and Télécommunications between 1979 and 1980 in the government of Salim El-Hoss and Minister for the Stations and Télécommunications between 1980 and 1982 in the government of Chafic Wazzan.
At the end of the war, it is essential like one of the main allies of the Syria on the Lebanon, engrossing the post of Deputy Prime Minister of 1990 until November 2000, while being Minister for Defense (1990 - 1992) in the governments of Omar Karamé and Rachid Solh, then Minister of Interior Department of Rafic Hariri and Salim El-Hoss between 1994 and 2000.
Extremely disputed personality, its passage within the ministry for the Interior was particularly famous for the massive electoral frauds and the exactions against the demonstrators opposed to the Syrian supervision.
It leaves the government after the elections of 2000, but preserves its seat of deputy, acquired in 1991. His/her son, Elias Murr, succeeds to him within the ministry for the Interior in the two governments of Rafiq Hariri between 2000 and 2004.
In October 2004, Michel Murr is elected vice-president of the Parliament.
It succeeds in 2005 forging an electoral alliance with the Free patriotic current of the general Michel Aoun and thus preserves its seat of deputy and becomes member of the Bloc of the reform and the change directed by the former general.
