Michel Mohrt

Michel Mohrt , born on April 28th 1914 with Morlaix, is an editor, essay writer, novelist and French historian of the literature, he is also painter in watercolours.

Michel Mohrt made studies of right and letters to Rennes. He was then a sympathizer of the French Action. Bachelor of law, it is registered with the bar of Morlaix in 1937. He made the countryside of 1940 as officer on the face of the Alps (against the Italians), in particular in Vésubie. Among his friends, it counts Jean Bassompierre, which, during the Second world war, was committed in the German Armée in order to fighting against the Bolsheviks; it pays homage in its to him Romance, Tombeau of Rouërie .

A long time editor at Gallimard where he was specialist in the North-American literature, he received the Grand Prix of the novel of the French Academy in 1962 for the maritime Prison and was elected member of the French Academy in 1985.
