Michel Marion

Michel Marion , trading and Breton ship-owner , was born with Quimper towards 1450. Receiver of ducal finances for the area of Quimper, it sells his goods to assist from the duke, François II of Brittany, besieged in Nantes by the French troops and to defend the independence of the Brittany.

He tranforme a tradind ship in the warship and embarks with a hundred Quimpérois, then will seek reinforcements with the Croisic and Guérande. On the the Loire, it attacks the enemy French boats, but dies in the combat in 1487. Thanks to this forwarding and with the support of the peasants of Low-Brittany, the duke François II is delivered and, grateful, Anne of Brittany equips the girl with Michel Marion by a gift of three thousand books.
