Michel IX Paleologist , Byzantine emperor associated with his father of 1295 with 1320, born in 1278, died in 1320, wire of Andronic II Paleologist and Anne of Hungary. Its birth the very same day of Easter of 1278 was presented, by the imperial propagnade, like miraculous, announcing better days and prosperity for the people and the Byzantine empire.
He married in 1295 Rita (1278 † 1333), girl of Leon III, king d' Arménie, and of Kyrana de Lampron, which gave him four children:
Manual Paleologist , killed by soldiers of his brother in 1319;
Anne († 1320), married in 1313 with Thomas Angel, despot of Epire († 1318), then in 1318 with Nicolas Orsini, count de Céphalonie;
Théodora , married in 1320 with Theodore Svetoslav tsar of Bulgaria († 1321), then with Michel III († 1330), tsar of Bulgaria.
In 1295, his/her father associates it with the throne Byzantine empire.
In 1302, it was sent in the south of Asia Mineure to take again the things in hand; vis-a-vis its inexperience, its generals must take care to prevent any precipitated action of its share. Turkish launched out then to the attack and immobilized it with its army in the area of Magnésie. In front of the desertion from most of its army, it had its safety only in the escape, leaving its disabled army.
It is locked up however in Pergame, where it resists until January. He is opposed to the entry, in the city, of the Catalan Compagnie engaged by his father and lets assassinate his chief Roger de Flor, with all his continuation in a feast close to Andrinople in 1307. In reprisals, the Catalan truck drivers devastates the Thrace, leaving behind them Turk bands, who put Michel IX diverts in 1311 of it.
After his military defeats in front of Turkish, his father Andronic III sends it food to Thessalonique with his mother-in-law, Irene. The successive deaths of his/her daughter Anne and her Manuel son affected it so much so that he died on October 12th 1320.
