Michel Giacobini (1873 - 1938) was a Astronome French.

He discovered several Comet S, of which periodic comets:

  • 21P/Giacobini-Zinner the December 20th 1900 (body relative of the rain of shooting stars of the Giacobinides) which will be redécouverte in 1913 by Ernst Zinner, from where its name.
  • 41P/Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresak .

He worked with the Observatoire of Nice until in 1910, then he asked to be transferred to the Observatoire from Paris. Mobilized at the time of the First World War, it was poisoned by gases and was reformed. He cures and took again his astronomical activities at the observatory of Paris after the war.

The asteroid (1756) Giacobini was named in its honor.
