This goalkeeper succeeded with aims of FC Metz André Rey, his trainer, in 1980. Faithful to the Metz-native, titular club indisputable, it will finish there its career of D1 in 1991 after a passage to Quimper in D2 and Toulon in D1 and after having gained two cuts of France, in 1984 and 1988.
It disputed 295 matches in the first division for the FC Metz between 1976 and 1991.
It continues its course in football as a trainer of the goalkeepers, dedicating a fidelity without fault with Joel Muller. It in particular accompanied this last with RC Lens. The duet will obtain with the northerner club a title of vice-champion of France and a participation in the League of the Champions before taking again the direction of FC Metz, where he exerted until the exit of the season 2006/2007, which saw the FC Metz going up among the elite.
Michel Ettorre officially announced his departure of the FC Metz on June 4th, 2007.
