Michel Crauste
Michel Crauste , born the July 6th 1934 with Saint-Laurent-of-Kid, is a player of Rugby to XV French, evolving/moving at the station of third line wing (or centers), of 1 m 81 per 85 kg.
Called the Mongol or Attila for his vaguely Asian air and its fine moustache. He began with the college from Aire-sur-l'Adour in the Landes, then entered to the National school of Trades E.D.F. of Gurcy-le-Châtel close to Paris, more precisely in Seine-et-Marne in the Mons, training center now closed where the sport was an essential value, seedbed of players of Rugby of Racing, which enabled him to dispute many corporative matches, especially in beginning and end of a career. He a long time held the record of the selections in team of France (62). Player with the Racing club of France of 1954 to 1959 (overdraft by François Moncla), then with FC Doors of 1960 to 1968, it begins in the Tournoi in 1958 during which it shines (it belongs to the team which beats the team from Wales in Cardiff 16-6), but does not take part in the historical round in South Africa which follows the same year.
He belongs to the team which gains its first tournament as a recluse in 1959. 3 other consecutive tournaments (1959-1962) will be then gained in her presence, the 2 last as a recluse also.
Appointed captain of the team of France, it marks three tests in the Tournament 1962 with the England. After a victorious round (with Springs) in 1964 in South Africa, it will still play the Tournaments 1965 and 1966, before taking its international retreat. It was also rounds Argentina in 1960 and New Zealand in 1961.
From 1960 to 1966, it will have disputed 44 consecutive matches with the team of France, record for the time (in 2005, only Roland Bertranne (46) and Philippe Sella (45) exceed it)
It was an excellent jumper of long key, and obtained the Oscar of the Olympic South (better French player of the championship) in 1961.
It involved then Lourdes, Morlaas, Bagnères…, and was victim of a serious accident in 1971 in a corporative match, with a not easily recovered paralysis.
Anecdote: the guy, I say it to you, one will make unpleasant old men! , say-you it one day with his fellow-members of the national selection, planted in front of the ice of the cloakroom.
It wrote its feather With the fire of Rugby , ED. Solar, 1973, and prefaced the book of Renaud de Laborderie Jean Prat - Loose scrum , ED. Calmann-Levy, 1968
