Me Michel Bissonnet LL.L M.A.N (March 28th, 1942 -) is a politician Québécois. He is the provincial Député of the district of Jeanne-Mance-Viger and the President of the National Assembly of Quebec since the 4 June 2003.
Biography
Michel Bissonnet was born with
Montreal the 28
March 1942. He made his studies in Droit to the Université of Montreal and he is member of the Barreau of Quebec since
1977. During its studies, he exerted several functions:
archivist, clerk office, assistant-chief of office, head clerk of the
Clerk, coordinator of the municipal elections and training lawyer with the dispute for the town of
Montreal. He was lawyer with the cabinet
Bissonnet, Mercadente and Associés of Saint-Léonard.
Political life
Very implied in the political circle, he was candidate of the Nouveau democratic party with a by-election in the federal district of Papineau in 1967, City council man town of Laval and mayor of Saint-Léonard of
1978 with
1981. He is with its seventh mandate with the
National Assembly of Quebec. It occupied several functions, of which those of
Whip, Vice-president and
President of the National Assembly of Quebec.
Being a man of policy, Mr. Bissonnet strongly supports the foundation Fondation Jean-Charles-Bonenfant which wants to increase, improve and diffuse knowledge on the political institutions and members of Parliament, like promoting the study and research on the democracy. Within the framework of this foundation, he visits the majority of the secondary schools of the province.
He speaks the French, the English and the Italian , his district comprising an important Italian community.
