Michel Bauldry
Michel Bauldry , religious French, born with Evron at the end of the 16th century.
Biography
It was born from a pious mother, with the number of which was his/her brother, dom Renusson, sexton of the monastery.Michel Baudry, already profès with Evron in July 1606, postulated the office of chambrier of the abbey. Under-priorat him was resigned in 1608, whereas he was only deacon, but its name is accompanied by no distinctive note in a list of the monks in 1611. He was armoirier of the abbey in August 1616; he does not appear in the list of the dignitaries in October 1625.
He was claustral Prieur in 1626 and was still with the abbey the October 7th 1634, witness with the taking possession of the Achille abbot the Small one of Gournay. He had taken the license in canon law.
Prior-silent partner of the abbeys of Lagny, of Cessenon, provost of Maillezais, it pled a long time to prevent the secularization of this last benefit and made write or sign by Jacques Guichon, lawyer at the Parliament, a report entitled Factum for Mr. Bauldry, appealing like abuse the bubble of secularization of the aforesaid the church (of Maillezais) of the January 14th 1631 . The question was decided against the successor of the provost by letters patent of the king of the May 20th 1664. But the large-provost had in the interval devoted his talent to other work.
Charles de Montchal, archbishop of Toulouse, and not of Tours, which had just published a ritual for its diocese, requested the monk of Evron to more amply treat the liturgical questions, to inspire with the clergy and faithful respect of the holy things that the quarrels of the prtestantism had weakened.
The Benedictine to inform itself in these matters, visited Rome at the time of the jubilee of 1635, and made appreciate his science of the Congregation of the Rites; he traversed the main cities of Italy, questioned the most learned liturgists there, and could dedicate in 1636 to the archbishop of Toulouse the book thus prepared Manuale sacrarum ceremoniarum, juxta Ritum Romanum, etc; AD usum omnium Ecclesiarum tam regularium quam saecularium .
During its stay with Saint-Germain-of-Meadows, it gave at the request of Jean-Jacques Olier, lessons of liturgy to the seminar of Saint-Sulpice. It was not estimated less as preacher. It does not belong as one said, with the Congrégation of Saint-Maur, but it supported his introduction into several monasteries.
It was one of the correspondents of the Father Marin Mersenne, tiny.
One does not find nowhere, known as the P. Lelasseur, the date of his death, but one reads in the ecclesiastical Insinuations of Lyon, that the November 13rd 1659, it resigned his great priory to Dom Gaspard Molinet, Bénédictin, doctor of Sorbonne, excluded from the faculty of 1656 for refusal of tender to the censure of Antoine Arnauldthe P. Bauldry was thus also in the ideas of Port-Royal.
