Michel (editor)
Michel is a philatelic editor German. Its Catalog of German stamps published since 1910.
The first catalog was written in 1910 per Hugo Michel, with Apolda close to Weimar. It listed the stamps emitted in Europe and of use in the post offices of European countries abroad. It resold its rights to the Schwaneberger editions, whose seat is with Munich.
The editor is the reference for the collection of the German postage stamps, but it is the usual reference in Central and Eastern Europe. It is also often used as reference on the world emissions when it publishes each year of the statistics on the activity of the postal administrations.
The catalog paper includes/understands many volumes (Germany in particular, then regrouping of the countries by continents or sub-continents), whose multiplication is caused by the inflation of the emissions of postage stamps in the world. The postage stamps and the stamps of Airmail are classified together. Beside the general catalog, Michel publishes catalogs specialized for certain countries or types of postal emissions, particularly for the German-speaking countries (private post office for example). In 2006, to face the cost of impression of his catalogs, the editor proposes the impression of catalogs to the request ( Individual-Kataloge ): the purchaser orders only the philatelic countries and entities which interest it rather than to buy a catalog including/understanding of the adjoining countries which does not interest it. The invoicing is carried out in the page.
The monthly magazine Michel-Rundschau publishes philatelic articles, pages on the new emissions which are used as complements with the catalog.
Since 2003, the editor allows the consultation by subscription of his catalog on his Internet site, in English and German.
