He is the son of the Médecin and Botaniste Paul Reneaulme (1560-1624) and the brother of Paul-Alexandre Reneaulme (1672-1749).
Reneaulme obtains its title of doctor to the faculty of Paris on December 29th 1700. He is elected, on November 6th 1734 and on November 3rd 1736, by twice Doyen of this same faculty. He is professor at the medical school of Paris. Member of the Academy of Science, initially as Jean Going raises (v. 1650-1738) starting from February 28th 1699, then like holder starting from January 21st 1710, Reneaulme publishes only some memories of botany in the Annales , of which some work on the rise of the Sève. He is mainly known to have received Academy the manuscripts of Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (1656-1708), of which he is the pupil and the friend. Tournefort said of Reneaulme “ magnas avitæ virtutis spes facians ” (which gives great hopes to reach the value of its ancestors). Unfortunately, the projects of Reneaulme turn short and a part only of the manuscripts of Tournefort appear, the essence being mislaid during years with the library of the national Muséum of natural history.
