Michel-Jacques-François Achard

The baron Michel-Jacques-François Achard , born with Careenage (island St Lucia) the October 14th 1778, died with Paris the January 6th 1865, is a Brigadier general French.
The April 17th 1793, Achard was hardly 15 years old that already it began its beautiful military career and tie-beam like soldier in the 1st battalion of St Lucia; two months after he was corporal, and sergeant the May 23rd 1794. He passed then to the 2nd battalion of St Lucia and was named lieutenant the May 22nd 1795. The May 26th 1796, it was made prisoner of war by the English and was returned the October 23rd 1797. The February 20th 1802 it was wounded with the port the Peace (island of Santo Domingo) of a shot to the arm; and the July 12th 1803, he was captain executive officer with the 19th light half-brigade. The June 14th 1802, it was wounded again with the knee; the August 11th according to it accepted a blow of saber on the head and ten blows of saber on the body in the plain of the Cul-de-sac (Saint-Domingue island); fact captive again of the November 30th 1803 with the July 6th 1804, it passed at that time to the 5th light one.

He accepted a new nomination only the June 23rd 1823, and he did not take again his rank, with the title of Brigadier that in 1824, after having made the Campagne of Spain. The September 3rd 1830 it was named Lieutenant-general.
The Achard general made the campaigns of 1793, years II, II, IV, in St Lucia, of year VII, with the Armée with the West, years VIII and IX, with the Armée with Italy, of years X, XI, and XII, in Saint-Domingue; of 1807, 1808, 1809 with the Large army, of 1812 in Russia, 1813 and 1814 in Germany, of 1823 and 1824 in Spain, of 1830 and 1831 in Africa, of 1832 and started from 1833 to the Armed with North.
Created knight of the Legion of honor the May 16th 1809, it was named officer the August 24th 1814, ordering on May 1st 1821, large officer the January 9th 1833 and Grand Cross, the May 6th 1846. It became finally senator on January 26th, 1852 and died in 1865.
He was also knight of the order of Saint-Louis and Saint-Ferdinand of Spain.
