Michael Swanwick (born on November 18th, 1950 in Schenectady, New York) is an American writer of science fiction. Resident with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania it starts to publish in the beginning of the year 1980.
If Stations the depths gained the Prix Nebula better novel, it is especially for its works shorter than Swanwick will be rewarded by criticism. One will be able to quote the Edge of the world rewarded by the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award in 1989, Radio waves which gains the World Fantasy Award in 1996, and his four Prix Hugo for the brutal Pulse of the machine (1999), Scherzo with tyrannosaure (2000), The Dog Said Bow-Wow (2002) and slow Vie (2003).
It also has coécrit a certain number of news with other authors such William Gibson ( air Duel ) and Gardner Dozois ( Gods of Mars , Temps of snow ).
Swanwick also published on the science fiction itself. Its two tests The User' S Guides to the Postmoderns (1986) and In the Tradition… (1994) leans respectively on the situation of the science fiction and the fantasy.
