Michael Nylander

Michael Nylander (born the October 3rd 1972 with Stockholm in Sweden) is a professional player of Hockey.

Michael has a brother, Peter, which also plays as a professional of hockey.

Career in club

It begins its career of player in 1989 - 90 while playing in the championship of the first division of Sweden for the team of the Huddinge IK. Two seasons later, it joined the team of AIK, of the Swedish championship elite (Elitserien). The same year at the beginning of season, it is chosen by the Whalers de Hartford of the National league of hockey at the time of the fishing out of entry in the LNH in third round (59e choice on the whole). It then receives the title of better recruit of the year in Sweden.

It joined the North America for the Saison LNH 1992-93 and plays two seasons with Whalers before turning over to play in Europe for the club of JYP Jyväskylä of the championship of Finland (Sm-liiga). At the end of one season, it joined the Flames of Calgary for two seasons before turning over to Europe, in Suisse for HC Lugano.

On its return in the LNH, there remain still two small seasons with the Flames before joining during the Saison LNH 1998-99 the Lightning de Tampa Bay. Less than two seasons later, it then carries the colors of the Blackhawks of Chicago then those of the Capitals of Washington in 2002. It finishes the season according to in the manpower of the Bruins of Boston before turning over once again to Europe at the time of the '' lockout '' 2004-05 of the LNH.

He plays then for the Kärpät Oulu of Sm-liiga but also in Russia, for SKA Saint-Pétersbourg and the Ak Bars Kazan.

In 2005, it signs with the Rangers of New York and plays sides of Jaromír Jágr. It then carries out its best season in the LNH with 22 goals and 54 decisive master keys in 76 matches. It helps Rangers thus has to exceed the 100 points (first time since 1994). Rangers fail all the same the first turn of the eliminatory Séries against the Devils of the New Jersey and this in four matches. In 2007, it signs a contract with Capitals of Washington as an autonomous player.

  • Medal of money: 1992. He is elected better attacking and on the standard team of the tournament. He is also the best striker of the tournament.

  • Medal of money: 1993 and 1997. At the time of the two editions, it is named better tackling tournament and in 1997, it is named in the standard team of the tournament.
