Michael Naumann

Michael Naumann , born the December 8th 1941 with Köthen, in Saxony-Anhalt, is a journalist, publicity agent, editor and German politician . It was Délégué Federal government to the culture and the media during the first social democrat government of Gerhard Schröder.

Naumann is the son of a lawyer of Köthen died in the Bataille of Stalingrad in 1942. At eleven years, it is constrained to leave GDR with his mother. After the baccalaureat, it is graduate of political science of the university of Munich (1969). He also studied with the Queen' S College of the Université of Oxford. Its doctorate has as a subject Karl Kraus. In 1978, its Habilitation has as a title: Change structural of the heroism, of crowned with the layman . He also wrote several standard tests on revolutionary theories.

Naumann worked with Die Zeit and with the Spiegel . In 1985, it takes the head of the publisher Rowohlt Verlag. In 1995, it settles with New York, where it works initially for Metropolitan Books, then for Henry Holt. From 1998 to 2000, he is the first minister of state for the culture of the the Federal Republic of Germany, before turning over in the world of the edition. In March 2007, an extraordinary national congress of SPD chooses it like chief candidate of the party to the municipal elections of Hamburg in 2008.
