Michael Kamen

Michael Kamen is a type-setter of orchestral music born with New York with the USA the April 15th 1948 and deceased the November 18th 2003.

He studied in the prestigious music school of Juilliard to New York where he learned the Hautbois. He quickly became leader. It is one of the musicians who best succeeded in marrying the classical music and rock'n'roll. He collaborated with Pink Floyd on the album The Wall, but also with Sting, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Kate Bush, Bryan Adams, Queen or Lenny Kravitz (Fields Of Joy). He also composed of many film original soundtracks like the Lethal weapon , Brazil or of the series such as Band off Brothers . In 1991, it worked with Metallica on the Black Album (Nothing else matters) and in 1999 on some symphonic concerts which gave rise to the album S&M .

Michael Kamen was named twice with the Oscar and gained 4 Grammy Awards, 2 Golden Globes, 2 Ivor Novello Awards, a Annie and a Emmy Award.

He suffered from a Multiple sclerosis. He died of an heart attack in his London apartment , leaving only, his wife, Sandra Keenan-Kamen and two girls, Sasha and Zoe.
