Michael James Adams
Michael James Adams is a pilot American of X-15 born the May 5th 1930 and deceased in flight the November 15th 1967.
Biography
It was pilot in USAF, selected within the framework of the program Manned Orbital Laboratory , project of Space station inhabited usable with fine soldiers.
Flights carried out
It was one of the 8 pilots of X-15 to cross the altitude of the 50 miles (a little more than 80 km), which is the border of space according to the definition of USAF .The November 15th 1967, it crosses the altitude of 266.000 feet (more than 81.000 m). At the time of the phase of redescente, Adams loses the control of its plane: after a fall with more Mach 4, its apparatus is dislocated with 65.000 feet (nearly 20.000 meters of altitude), killing its pilot on the blow. Its name is registered on the memorial of NASA.
