He turned in films of Cinéma and American televised series but it is its role of Marty McFly in the saga Retour towards the future which brought a world-famous personality to him.

Biography

Born Michael Andrew Fox , wire of the actress Phyllis Fox, it adopted initial “the J” in its name of scene in homage to the actor Michael J. Pollard and to avoid any confusion with its homonym, the British actor Michael Fox. When his/her father was member of the Canadian Armed forces, its family had to very often move energy of city downtown (of which North Bay) until settling finally in Burnaby, suburbs of Vancouver, after his/her father had taken his retirement in 1971.

In the departure impassioned of Hockey, it is interested during its adolescence in the writing and plays of the guitar in some rock groups, but it is its desire for becoming actor who really continues it.

After an appearance at 15 years in the series “Leo and me”, Fox joined then Los Angeles at 18 years to begin its career of actor. After some small roles, it begins on television American in “ Letters From Frank ” as Michael Fox, it obtains its first role with the cinema in the film Disney Midnight Madness . But its career really flies away in 1982 with its role of Alex P. Keaton in “ Family Ties ”, a series which becomes an immense success and which will continue until in 1989. Its work is rewarded by 3 Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe.

During its years records, its career with the cinema starts with what remains its greater role: that of Marty McFly in the film Return towards the future in 1985, whose immense success made known to him two continuations in 1989 and 1990.

It Marie the July 16th 1988 with the actress Tracy Pollan, who held the role of her first boyfriend in the series Family Ties, and of which he will have four children.

In 1990, it plays in Outrages of Brian de Palma which makes it leave its roles of eternal teenagers to rock in the drama. Thereafter, its career is blown a little and it is satisfied with many small roles in films without much success. But it is started again in 1995 by the President and Miss Wade of Rob Reiner then Fantômes against phantoms of Peter Jackson and Attacks Mars! of Tim Burton in 1996.

But it is still the television which succeeds to him best with the successful series Spin City , a political satire. In the latter, he interprets the role of the general secretary of the mayor of New York, a gaffor. But it is during this role that its disease, made public in 1998 but whose it is known reached since 1991, to take rest in 2000 obliges it to be withdrawn. To do that carefully, he asks Heather Locklear, of which the series Melrose Place stops, to join it in the sitcom.

He continues nevertheless to work: he is the original voice of the hero animated Stuart Little and the character of Milo Thatch in cartoon film Atlantis, the empire lost . He recently produced a pilot for a series Sitcom entitled “ Hench At Home ”, without he being given there continuation.

In 2003, it makes an appearance noticed in the Televised series Scrubs. It holds to with it the role of Kevin Casey, a doctor/suffering surgeon of Obsessional Trouble Compulsif, the time of 2 episodes of season 3. It is entirely invested today in the fight against the Parkinson's disease within the foundation which it created and which bears its name. He hopes to join together important financings making it possible research to advance and find a remedy before 2010. He wrote besides an autobiography, “ Lucky Man ” on his experiment vis-a-vis this disease.
