Michael Flax

Michael Lin was born with Tokyo in 1964; currently he lives and works with Taiwan. He leaves very young Taiwan for the United States where he studies the Design. Of return in 1993, it starts to use printed textiles of floral reasons resulting from the traditions Japanese woman and Taiwanese. Michael Lin will make the base of her work of it.

Work

The painting of Michael Lin finds her blooming in the ornamentation and the relation with the Architecture. Its giant reasons use the space placed at its disposal to decline themselves on the walls, the grounds and the pieces of furniture and to create installations which invite the visitor to penetrate there. Its floral reasons proceed of decorative, assumed as tel. Its acidulous flowers oversize are close formally to esthetics pop. Qualifying her work of “banal”, Michael Lin explains that it induces a physical implication of the spectator: it is a question less than one painting to be contemplated that of a space to be occupied. “When one looks at a table, one is concentrated and upright, whereas the relation which is established with my works is more physical. It raises more relation that there is between you and your settee that of that which can exist between you and a painting.”. Its work also reflects the sociocultural climate of the Années 1980 and 1990 in Taiwan in search of sound identity.

Exposures

Michael Lin intervened in the biennial international ones of Taipei (2000), Istanbul (2001), Venice (2001) and of Liverpool (2002). In 2002, it carries out for the palate of Tokyo a painted ground of approximately 250 m ². It exposes regularly in Asia, Europe and to the the United States.
