Michael Anthony

Biography

It was born the June 20th 1954 with Chicago in Illinois. It is however with Pasadena in California that Michael Anthony became acquainted with the brothers Edward and Alex Van Halen, respectively guitarist and beater, just as with the singer David Lee Roth with whom it founded the group Van Halen in the middle of the years 1970. The quartet launched a first album Van Halen in 1978 which was an immediate success. Michael Anthony pointed out himself not only by her play of low effective which supplements well the virtuosity of Edward Van Halen with the Guitare, but also in her capacity as chorus-singer. Its play of low is compared with that of a Cliff Williams (AC/DC) and is characterized by a very heavy sound and often rapid which stresses the tonics.

Following this first success, the group launched five other albums with David Lee Roth: Van Halen II (1979), Women And Children First (1980), Fair Warning (1981), Diver Down (1982) and 1984 (1984). David Lee Roth was replaced thereafter in 1985 by Sammy Hagar and Van known Halen once again much of success with the albums 5150 (1986), OU812 (1988), For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991), Live: Right Young stag Right Now (1993) and Balance (1995). In 1998, the group recorded what remains their last album studio, Van Halen III , with a third singer, this time the ex-Extreme Gary Cherone.

During all this time, the play of low and the voices of Michael Anthony formed integral part of the sound Van Halen, as well in studio as on scene with its eccentric services and its solos with its low with the effigy of the Whiskey manufacturer Jack Daniel' S.

In 2004, a North-American round joining together Sammy Hagar, Edward Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony was a mitigated success, the problems of alcohols of Edward reflecting in an unhappy way on quality of many spectacles. This round put again before the legendary tensions within the group opposing on a side Edward Van Halen to the tandem Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony. This last with all fine practices had been excluded besides from the recording of the three new songs being reproduced on compilation The Best off Both Worlds published in the tread of the round in July 2004. In 2006, Edward Van Halen announced the replacement of Michael Anthony by Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of old Edward of only 15 years, the time of a round meeting announced with the original singer David Lee Roth, turned planned for the autumn 2007.

In March 2007, Michael Anthony was established with prestigious “the Rock-and-roll Hall off Famed” at the same time as these ex-assistants David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, Edward Van Halen and Alex Van Halen. Only Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony was presented to receive this homage, which was decreed to them for the occasion by the members of Velvet Revolver.

Michael Anthony remains active as musician and also as vocalist. It regularly accompanies the group by Sammy Hagar and formed in 2006 with this last the project The Other Half, formation ad hoc which interprets successes of Van Halen in the absence of Edward and of Alex. It has its own line of low with the manufacturer Yamaha, the BB3000MA.
