Meyssac

------------------ Meyssac is a common French, located in the department of the Corrèze and the area the Limousin. The name Occitan of the commune is Maissac (without official character).

Its inhabitants is called Meyssacois.

Heraldic

Blazon of the commune: of gold with three fasces heavy showers of mouth, the chief of azure charged with three gold stars (Weapons of the Terms). This blazon was voted on December 15th 1983.

Meyssac is built all in red sandstone (the color of the stones being darker there).

  • church Saint-Vincent dating from the 12th century, 15th century and 16th century, which was classified with the Historic buildings in 1942.

  • to be visited without fault Collonges-the-Red (classified among the more beautiful villages of France) and Curemonte with its three castles, village where was turned the Film the Orange of Christmas (according to the novel of Michel Peyramaure).
  • the small commune of Lostanges and the village of Turenne with the ruins of the Feudal Castle .
