Meyrueis
Meyrueis ( Maruèis in Occitan) is a common French, located in the department of the Lozere and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called Meyrueisiens.
Geography
Meyrueis is located exactly between the buttresses of the Mont Aigoual at the south and the Méjean Causse at north, in the vicinity immediate of the National park of the Cevennes. The city marks the border between the geographical area of large the Causses (Causses Black and Méjean separated by the throats from the Jonte) and that of the the Cevennes.
History
The etymology of Meyrueis comes from what the city is located at conflent (the " mescla" in occitan and of Provence) several rivers (rueis, or rieux, in Occitan).

The Blasonnement of Meyrueis is: of azure to the gold lion, lampassé and of mouths, holding of its sinistral leg an uncial letter M of money .

Remarkable buildings and public places
At medieval time, Meyrueis had its castle: that of Roquedols. It rests, intact, in the middle of the forest of the ONF, which moved in it besides for its offices. This castle is also a place of exposure, since painters beginners install their tables there.
Religious buildings
Meyrueis was a Protestant city. But today, this small village is at the same time catholic Christian and Protestant. This village is cut between the communal church, and the Protestant temple. There is also a vault, remains of a destroyed castle, which acts tourist as place.

There are no museums with Meyrueis but a workshop of let us santons can be visited.
