Mexicana

Mexicana or Mexicana de Aviación (in Spanish, complete name: Compañía Mexicana de Aviación SA of CV ), (Code AITA: MX ; Code ICAO: MXA ) is a Airline company Mexico. It is the 3rd older company in the world to have preserved its original name, after KLM and the Colombia Avianca. It belonged to Star Alliance until 2004, preferring since bilateral alliances with certain companies like LAN Airlines, American Airlines, Iberia, AeroMexico, Aeromar, Aerolitoral, Avianca, Japan Airlines, Copa Airlines, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Lufthansa and Varig.

The July 12th 1921, in the federal district of Mexico City, is founded Compañía Mexicana de Transportación Aérea (CMTA), ancestor of Mexicana Airlines. August 20th 1924, with Tampico, the Americans George L. Rihl, William Mallory, R.G. Piper and Carl V. Schlaet found Mexicana Airlines. The biplane of the company was used to transport the wages on the fields Pétrolifère S which were released in vol.

In 1996, Mexicana enters the group CURVED, a Holding which includes/understands the following companies: Mexicana de Aviación, Aerocaribe, AeroMexico, SEAT, Aerolitoral, Aeromexpress, Centro of Capacitación Went from América and Saber (Mexico). CURVED is currently one of the more large companies of Mexico. The November 29th 2005, CURVED sells Mexicana and Click Mexicana with the hotel chain Grupo Posadas, for 165,5 million dollars.

With Click Mexicana, Mexicana forms Grupo Mexicana.

Mexicana took delivery of in 2005 its first Airbus A318 on the ten specimens ordered at Airbus. This aircraft is been driven by engines CFM56.
