Meulan
Meulan is a common department of the Yvelines, in the area Île-de-France, in France, located at approximately 17 km in the east of Mantes-the-Pretty.
The name of Meulan comes from the Latin Mediolanum , the plain of the medium (as Milan but not as Melun whose Latin name is Metlosedum or Melodunum ).
To avoid possible confusions with Melun (Seine-et-Marne), the municipal council plans to rename the commune “the Meulan-on-Seine”, choice ratified by the population, which preferred it in “Meulan-in-Yvelines”, during a local consultation in September 2003.
The inhabitants of Meulan are Meulanais.

Meulan also develops a tertiary sector turned towards hotel trade and the services. Its economy is fragile because of weak surface of the commune.
