The Metz-native Stage Students Club or more simply SMEC is a general sports club of the town of founded Metz in 1968 after fusion between the PEC Metz and the Metz-native Stage. The general president of the club is Sampiero Gavini. The club is composed of ten sections of which most prestigious are the Handball and the Table tennis.

Male Handball

The section male Handball was creates in 1968. It is chaired by Jean-Paul Davalis and is pulled by Detlef Sobolewski. The SMEC was a pillar of the French handball a long time, training players recognized and evolving/moving 16 years with the more high level before knowing difficult years then to sink in Nationale 2 in 2007.

Supporters

The SMEC Handball Masculin is supported by the " group; Metz 1968". Formed in February 2005 under the name of " GoodFellas" , this group is composed of supporters of FC Metz eager to support their city in another sport with the image of the Greek supporters or of Eastern Europe.

In spite of their presence outside summarizing itself with the shortest displacements, this group asserts mentality ultra in their way of supporting their team, which is extremely rare in handball. Their activity became however very reduced following the catastrophic results of the team these last seasons.

Their presence is due also to certain facts bringing the SMEC closer to the FC Metz: male team, shirts garnets (since season 06/07), room near the Stage Saint-Symphorien… Thus, these supporters chose to be invested at the SMEC rather than with H2ML in spite of the superiority of this team on the sporting level.

Female Handball

The SMEC female Handball evolves/moves in championship of prénationale in league of Lorraine. The SMEC was the club of the beginnings of Isabelle Wendling and Helene François enter others.

Table tennis

The SMEC Table tennis consists of three flags teams: a male team which evolves/moves in PRO has, a second team male which evolves/moves in Nationale 1 and a female team evolving/moving in Nationale 1.
