Metsuke
The metsuke () are critics and police officers of the era Edo, with the Japan, charged to supervise the Hatamoto () and the Gokenin () by the Wakadoshiyori (). In 1732, their number passed from 1 to 10. They had a rather large authority. Towards the end of the bakufu of Edo, there were 20 holders and their function had extended to various administrative loads. Their origin goes back to the beginning of the era Muromachi and, with the time Sengoku, the DaimyƓ used them to get information about the control of the warriors.
