Metamorfosis
Ahmed Hassan Zewail (Arab: أحمدزويل) (Damanhur, February 26th 1946), is a Egyptian Chimiste .
He received the Nobel Prize of chemistry in 1999 for his work in Femtochimie on the Spectroscopie of the states of transition during a reaction by lasers femtoseconde developed using a laser describes like " the fastest camera of the world ". The researcher succeeded in showing how were made the chemical bonds on a some femtosecondes scale, that is to say one millionth of billionth of second. The apparatus developped at the point by the Nobel Prize makes it possible to see the movements of the atoms, which opens the possibility of including/understanding their behavior, and why not, to control the result of their reactions.
Ahmed Zewail studied chemistry at the university of Alexandria where it obtains its license then a master in spectroscopy, then continued a doctorate with the Université of Pennsylvania in 1973 before being a post-doctoral researcher in Berkeley and regaining CalTech in 1976. Ahmed H. Zewail is currently chemistry teacher and of physique to the California Institute off Technology (CalTech), and occupies the pulpit Linus Pauling since 1990 when it directs the laboratory for molecular sciences and the founded multidisciplinary Research center in CalTech by the National Science Foundation (NSF) around the study of the fundamental molecular processes playing a role in the molecular systems complexes.
Work
Ahmed Zewail is indeed the first to have shown how the study of the chemical reactions could be realized thanks to extremely short laser flashes (picoseconds then Femto seconds). The principle which it developed consists in subjecting a chemical medium to two successive flashes: the first generates the reaction, the second makes it possible to analyze by spectroscopy the compounds chimiques.
By her discoveries, Ahmed Zewail allowed to open new prospects in chemistry, biology and pharmacology for the development of chemical reactions and biochemical more powerful and more selective, with the consequences that implies both for the chemical synthesis health humaine.
Its research is currently devoted to the study on femto scales with nanosecond of the electronic coupling and the atomic Dynamique and molecular during the elementary chemical acts which are concerned during several fundamental reactions in Chimie and Biologie, or which controls the electronic communication with long distance in the chemical and biological supramolécules like DNA.
Prices
More than 100 prices and rewards, of the stamps were even published in its honneur.
In addition to the Nobel Prize in 1999, its decisive work was worth many prestigious distinctions to him of which the Prix Wolf in 1993, the medal of the Collège de France in 1995, the Deybe price in 1996, the price Robert A. Welch in 1997, the Médaille Benjamin Franklin and the Lawrence price in 1998, the Prix Röntgen in 1999, the Prix Jean Perrin of which he was the first member elect in 2001.
Its country the Egypt decreed to him in 1999 its higher distinction by doing it member about the Large Collar of the the Nile.
He is doctor " today; honoris causa" in several universities of share the world including/understanding the the United States, the England, the Swiss , the Egypt, the Belgium, the Australia, the Canada, the India, the Italy, the Scotland, the Korea, the Sweden, the France, the China, the Mexico, the Ireland, the Japan, the Lebanon, and the Argentinian and occupies of the honorary stations in Sciences, Arts, Philosophie , Law, Medicine, and Literature. It is by aillor member of academies and national companies and international, including the Academy National off Sciences, of the American philosophical company, the Pontifical Académie of Sciences, the European academy of arts, sciences, and the social sciences, the royal company of London, the Russian academy of sciences, the royal Swedish academy of sciences, the Academy of Science of Malaysia, and the French Academy of sciences. It holds the honorary chair at the university of the the United Nations.
