Metaleurop

Metaleurop (famous Recylex ) is a French group specialized in the production, the transformation and the valorization of the Metals non-ferrous: special Zinc, Lead and metals (Indium, etc). The group is resulting from fusion, in 1988, of the mining and metallurgical Company of Peñarroya and of the branch of the non-ferrous metals of the Groupe Preussag. The principal production sites are in France, Belgium and Germany. The majority shareholder is the Swiss group of raw material trade Glencore.

The business of the Northern liquidation of Metaleurop

Metaleurop was made known at the time of the Liquidation in March 2003 of its subsidiary company Northern Metaleurop, which exploited a Fonderie with Noyelles-Godault. A long polemic surrounded the dismissal of the 830 paid ones, and the abandonment of a site considered as more polluted France.

The subsidiary company of the North of France was then at the edge of the bankruptcy, in spite of the resources of its first shareholder, and the regular progression of the Chinese request increasing the price of metals. The subsidiary company was placed in File for bankruptcy in November 2003. For the employees employed on the site, the expenditure voluntarily exploded in order to run the company and thus capacity to delocalize it more easily; Materials and useless tools bought in great quantity, the drains essential with the good heart of trade of the company were not maintained any more, etc… (see the documentary one).

In parallel, an legal action of the liquidators and Work's council of Metaleurop North lead so that the Court of Appeal of Douai extends the liquidation subsidiary company to its head office, in a stop of December 16th, 2004. The court indeed considered that Metaleurop North was not independent of Metaleurop. April 6th, 2005, the Court of Bankruptcy of Béthune allots the resumption of Metaleurop to three industry groups. But on April 19th, the stop of the Court of Appeal of Douai is broken. The procedure of recovery is thus null and void. The business arrives in front of the Court of Appeal of Paris, which déboute liquidators and the work's council, on October 11th, 2005.

Metaleurop implements a plan of continuation which enables him to be rectified spectacularly. January 21st, 2006, the group is again with dimensions with the Bourse de Paris, after two years of suspension.
